For a La Jolla apartment move, start with this site’s published countywide market observations. For planning, a studio is $400 to $700. A one-bedroom is $500 to $1,100. A two-bedroom is $900 to $1,800. Use those bands to size the conversation. They aren’t a measured La Jolla average, and they aren’t Master Movers San Diego prices. Don’t assume the same rate in every neighborhood. Don’t assume travel is free.

The independent mover you may book sets the actual written estimate after a visual inspection of the goods. A figure given without that inspection is still a planning number. Writing it down later doesn’t turn it into the estimate.

Master Movers San Diego is a moving referral marketplace. It connects you with an independent household mover. It doesn’t perform the move.

How access changes the quote

La Jolla’s planning area is a north-coastal part of the City of San Diego, defined by coastline, canyons, and hillsides. If the address sits on Scripps Institution or UCSD property, confirm that institution’s rules. Don’t assume a city or private-building process fits.

The elevator reserved window, the lawful loading location, and the carry route have to fit the same plan. If the elevator hold and the lawful curb don’t overlap, the plan doesn’t match. That’s a different job than a short path to an open loading door. Ask the mover to update the written scope before you choose. Wait until those three pieces are actually agreed.

Packing, travel, waiting, and access charges belong in that same written scope when the mover will charge for them. They aren’t a universal surcharge list.

Street loading and curb rules

Lawful street access is separate from private building permission. City parking enforcement prohibits double parking, sidewalk parking, and blocking a public or private driveway, including your own. A street-sweeping restriction lasts the entire posted time. Those rules still apply even when a painted curb is nearby. Ask the actual mover to plan a lawful loading spot and an alternate if that spot is taken.

The City curb guide treats a yellow curb as loading of materials or goods by motor trucks or commercial vehicles. The default is 20 minutes, unless otherwise posted. It isn’t personal reserved parking for a whole apartment move, and it isn’t a privilege for any car. White is passenger loading, not a furniture reservation. Red prohibits stopping, standing, or parking, attended or unattended.

Building access questions

Building and HOA rules vary, and this site hasn’t verified yours. Not every building uses an elevator hold or asks for a COI. Ask the manager who reserves the elevator, if they use one, and which dates and windows are allowed. If they want a certificate of insurance, ask for the wording, limits, and recipient. Ask which loading door and route to use, what clearance it has, and who approves the plan. Submitting a certificate isn’t the same as approval. A private elevator hold doesn’t replace a lawful street spot.

Quote comparison worksheet

Put two written estimates next to the same plan:

  • Same inventory after visual inspection, and whether packing is included
  • Elevator window or walk-up, carry route, and the loading door in use
  • Lawful curb spot plus an alternate, with travel, waiting, and access charges named
  • Who approves building hours and route, plus COI details only if asked

For a California-only household move, the Bureau of Household Goods and Services explains that a not-to-exceed maximum can change when you request additional services. Document those on a Change Order for Moving Services. A change order can’t simply cure a mover’s underestimation. Confirm the company on the state’s household mover search before you book.

When you want a connection with an independent mover, request one through the contact page.
