How much to tip movers and what to expect
Tipping movers in San Diego is customary but never required, and what people give tracks the crew size and how hard the job turned out. A common range is $20 to $40 per mover for a half-day local move and $40 to $80 per mover for a full day, with a long-distance crew tipped per day of work. How to pack fragiles for a move
Most damage on move day happens to dishes, glassware, and lamps that were under-packed or under-cushioned. The fix is paper-then-bubble layering inside a sturdy dish-pack barrel and packing every box tight enough that nothing shifts when you shake it.
How to prep appliances for moving day
Washers, dryers, and refrigerators are the items most often refused or surcharged on move day because they were not drained, secured, or disconnected on time. Twenty-four hours of prep prevents damage to the appliance and the floor on move day.
How to load a moving truck the right way
Loading a truck is a Tetris problem with weight rules. Heavy and rigid items go on the floor against the cab wall, soft items fill voids, and tall fragile items get strapped against the side rails, not stacked in the middle.
